The Latest News at the MFRA
The MFRA is in the process of starting a Pet Therapy program. We have a special group of PEW Rex rats being trained for this program. These rats are now nine weeks old and will be ready to use in this outstanding program when they are twelve weeks old. We have members working on bringing this program to the Lansing, Ann Arbor, Saginaw and Port Huron areas. For more information about this program and how you can participate in it, please contact us.The MFRA is also in the process of developing a classroom presentation to use in schools, girls and boys clubs, and at zoos. We are in need of volunteers, to do posters, handouts and written documentation. If you have skills in these areas and would like to assist us in the development of this educational program, please contact us.On November 19, 20, and 21, of 2004, the MFRA will be exhibiting at the Family Pet Expo, being held by the World Wide Pet Supply Association (WWPSA), 43700 Expo Center Dr. in Novi Michigan. The hours will be: Friday (1:00pm-9:00pm), Saturday (10:00am-7:00pm) and Sunday (10:00am-5:00pm). We will have a booth and will be putting on demonstrations for the proper care of fancy rats, showing quality beddings, foods, and samples of cages and toys. We will also be demonstrating different categories of show standards, using the RSA standards for type and temperament.
Members will have homemade items for sale specifically designed to benefit fancy rats. A portion of the proceeds from the items for sale will go toward, providing future educational activities that demonstrate to the public what wonderful companion animals fancy rats are.
